University of Maryland Bowie Health Center

University of Maryland Bowie Health Center opened its doors in 1978 and is longest running free-standing emergency center in the state. Located in Bowie, Maryland, this facility is equipped to handle level 2 emergencies and is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with board-certified/board-eligible emergency physicians. Patients who require more advanced care are transferred by Maryland ExpressCare to nearby hospitals via ambulance or helicopter.

The facility was completely renovated in 2016 and expanded to 27 beds, including two resuscitation rooms, a four bed triage, and 21 private rooms in two discrete pods. Patients often experience shorter wait times than a traditional emergency department and can receive laboratory and radiology services on-site.
